Special Commission from North Carolina Governor Beverly Perdue

This year the meeting of the Southern Governors' Association was hosted by North Carolina at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville; and Governor Beverly Perdue commissioned artist Elizabeth Ellison to paint watercolors of the mountains of Western North Carolina to be given as gifts to the attending governors.

Governor Perdue wrote Elizabeth, "It is so wonderful that the governors at the Southern Governors'' Association meeting went home carrying a vision of North Carolina. Your paintings are just beautiful and I'm so pleased that I also have one to enjoy."

In an interview, Elizabeth stated that she was very honored to have been selected and really appreciates the framing work which Charles Heath of Heath Creations, Bryson City, did to enhance the beauty of the paintings. With Charles' help she feels  that the attending governors each have a taste of these mountains to take back to their respective states.
